Government enacts new strategy for relations with Polish diaspora

The Polish Council of Ministers has adopted a new government strategy for cooperation with the Polish diaspora worldwide for the years 2025-2030. The document includes strategies for promoting remigration to Poland and ways to integrate the funds provided for Polish issues.

The Prime Minister’s Office said in a press statement that the strategy was prepared by the Minister of Foreign Affairs. It was explained that it serves to implement the government’s new priorities for cooperation with Poles and Poles abroad.

The strategy is primarily about promoting the return policy and integrating the resources provided for Polish affairs. The strategy also aims to modernise the instruments of cooperation with Polonia, taking into account the development needs of the Polish economy and demographic forecasts,” the statement said.

The Prime Minister’s Office stated that the Polish community is a group with great potential when it comes to return policy and the modernisation of the Polish economy.

This group also still has an unprecedented potential to promote and represent Polish interests abroad,” the statement notes.

The statement also mentions that the priorities of the strategy include: implementation of the return policy through support for mobility programmes (supporting returns to Poland for professional, educational or research activities); popularisation of the teaching of the Polish language,; facilitation of academic education or work placements in Poland; improvement of coordination of diaspora’s activities.

The document also announced a review of the regulations on the Karta Polaka system and formal steps for repatriation and obtaining citizenship, and it aims at adapting them to current needs.

The government wants these instruments to be used only by people with a real connection to Poland and who are attached to Polishness, Polish culture and traditions,” the statement said.
