The new British Foreign Secretary David Lammy visited minister Radek Sikorski at his house in Chobielin near Bydgoszcz. The visit is part of Lammy’s first trip for which he chose to visit Germany, Poland and Sweden. The two politicians spoke at a press conference in the beautiful landscape of a traditional noble manor in northern Poland.
According to Minister Sikorski, today’s visit by Minister Lammy demonstrates the very strong ties between the two countries, and this is true regardless of which government is in power in Poland or the UK. On this occasion, the head of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs congratulated the British Labour Party on its resounding victory in the recent elections.
In the context of the upcoming NATO summit in Washington, the head of Polish diplomacy noted that together with the United Kingdom we have similar expectations regarding the results of the North Atlantic Alliance meeting.
“It is about reaffirming our long-term policy of supporting Ukraine and mutual security guarantees expressed in the permanent presence of the Alliance’s forces and capabilities where there is a threat – on the eastern flank,” Minister Sikorski said. He also announced that Poland, like the UK has already done, would sign a bilateral security cooperation agreement with Ukraine.
The place of the meeting -Chobielin-Dwór – is an estate in Chobielin, Poland located in Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship, in the district of Nakło, in the municipality of Szubin.
The classicist manor house together with the park in Chobielin has been in the possession of the family of Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, who, after the restoration of the buildings, resides there with his wife Anne Applebaum.
