The launch of the Ax-4 mission, which will carry Polish astronaut Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski into space, has been postponed by one day, SpaceX announced. The flight, originally scheduled for Tuesday at 2:22 p.m. Polish time, will now take place on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m.. No reason for the delay has been officially provided.
The four-member crew of the upcoming mission, led by veteran American astronaut Peggy Whitson, with Indian-born pilot Shubhanshu Shukla, and science specialists Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski from Poland and Tibor Kapu from Hungary, is set to join astronauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS) for a two-week research mission.
During their stay, the team will carry out around 60 scientific experiments, including advanced studies aimed at developing new cancer treatments. The mission underscores the growing role of international cooperation in space-based biomedical research.
The Ax-4 flight marks the latest in a series of commercial crewed missions organised by US-based firm Axiom Space.
Poland’s involvement is the result of a landmark agreement between the Ministry of Development and Technology and the European Space Agency (ESA) to launch IGNIS, a Polish-led scientific and technological mission aboard the International Space Station. The mission is being coordinated with the support of the Polish Space Agency (POLSA), acting as the Ministry’s executive partner.
