Polish company becomes first in the world to commercialise perovskite solar cells

The Wrocław-based company SAULE Technologies has become the first in the world to commercialise perovskite cells in four areas: Building-integrated pohotovoltaics (BIPV), Building-attached photovoltaics (BAPV), Internet of Things (IoT), and E-Mobility.

We are proud of what we have achieved”, admits Piotr Krych, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of SAULE Technologies in an official presentation video.

In this video, Grzegorz Potoczny, Transfer of Process Director, explains some particularities of the production line as follows: “Our pioneering production line is unique on a global scale. It enables us to produce perovskite (…) at low temperatures, down to -100 °C. Our manufacturing process is based on inkjet technology (…) Our process also incorporates a robot which moves the substrate from station to station,” he explains.

“We can use perovskite cells on any surface, whether it is spherical or undulated. In fact, we can use any shape and size,” adds Olga Malinkiewicz, Chief Technology Officer & Co-Founder.

According to Konrad Wojciechowski, Chief Science Officer, perovskites have “a number of very interesting optoelectronic properties: translucency, flexibility, very high power-to-weight ratio, and a unique manufacturing process.”

As the perovskite solar cells market is expected to experience tremendous growth in the near future, it is worth drawing attention to the fact that it is a Polish company that is going to be at the forefront of this innovative field of renewable energy.
