Polish FM Radosław Sikorski has strongly condemned Russia’s actions in Ukraine, labelling them as attempts to cripple the Ukrainian economy and instigate another wave of refugees.
Speaking in an interview with Fox News on Sunday, Sikorski denounced these actions as “war crimes”. Addressing the ongoing situation in Ukraine, Sikorski asserted that Russia is intentionally targeting critical infrastructure to undermine Ukrainian capabilities, expressing concern over the civilian casualties resulting from such tactics and stressing the imperative of addressing Russia’s aggression.

While acknowledging Russia’s recent territorial gains, Sikorski also underscored Ukrainian successes in resisting Moscow’s dominance, particularly in the Black Sea region. However, he highlighted challenges such as the shortage of Patriot missiles, which have enabled Russian forces to target civilian infrastructure with impunity.
Sikorski expressed appreciation for the support extended by President Biden and House Speaker Mike Johnson, notably the recent aid package for Ukraine. He expressed hope that American-made equipment would swiftly reach Ukrainian defenders on the frontlines.
Looking ahead to the upcoming NATO summit in Washington scheduled for July, the Polish FM emphasised Poland’s unwavering commitment to defence spending and called for solidarity among NATO allies to counter the looming threat posed by Russia. He also underscored the historical partnership between Poland and the United States, emphasising the importance of continued U.S. engagement in Central Europe.
The interview with Fox News marked the culmination of Sikorski’s visit to Washington, during which he engaged with key figures and organisations to strengthen transatlantic ties and garner support for Ukraine, reaffirming Poland’s steadfast commitment to nurturing strong relations with the United States.
