The Baltic Olympiad in Informatics (BOI) is a renowned programming competition specifically designed for secondary school students hailing from countries surrounding the Baltic Sea. With participation from 10 countries, the event brings together over 60 talented students who vie against each other by tackling intricate algorithmic problems.
Since its inception in 1995, the BOI has expanded to include Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, and Sweden, with occasional invitations extended to other countries. Following a format similar to the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI), participants face a 5-hour exam over two contest days, solving intricate algorithmic problems and having their solutions evaluated based on efficiency and correctness. The BOI results are considered by several countries when selecting their IOI teams, further emphasizing the competition’s importance.
In 2023, Denmark has the honour of hosting the BOI for the second time, marking another milestone for the competition and further contributing to its legacy.
