The participants of the NATO TIDE Hackathon 2023 are representatives of universities, companies, and the military community focusing on modern solutions and innovative ideas that can be implemented within the Alliance.
Participants were given three tasks, from which they had to choose one to complete. This year’s edition of the competition lasted almost a week and was attended by over 100 people in 26 teams (including five from Poland) from 15 countries.
During this year’s edition of the NATO TIDE Hackathon, participants competed in three tasks:
- Analytics Dashboard for Interoperability: The task was to formulate metrics and demonstrate an interactive dashboard that tracks improvements in federated interoperability and provides insight into multi-domain issues.
- Disinformation Analyzer: this task developed by DKWOC is to present a content analysis tool capable of monitoring news feeds through social media and monitoring messengers; participants were encouraged to implement AI for contextual analysis of natural language.
- Small UAV Visual Navigation Concept Development (Development of visual navigation concept for small unmanned aerial vehicles): the developed tool was to provide valuable information on the operational and tactical situation.

This is the third time NATO TIDE Hackathon has been held in Poland. Major General Thorsten Jorgensen, NATO Deputy Chief of Staff for ACT, said this was due to excellent relations between NATO ACT and the Command of the Component of the Cyberspace Defense Forces. He also said that Warsaw is a great place to host different groups of professionals from many parts of the world. We previously hosted top developers from around the world in 2016 and 2019. In earlier editions, Polish teams repeatedly took top positions and won in their chosen tasks.
