UK’s most premature twins given no chance of survival finally sent home

Little Harley and Harry Crane’s mum Jade has spent the last 5 months, next to her early-born twins, at the Queens Medical Hospital in Nottingham.

On several occasions, doctors warned that the pregnancy was about to end as a miscarriage. However, Jade said it could not be true, given the fact that she could feel the babies moving.

The babies were eventually born with lung and other problems. What’s more, they were diagnosed with a dangerous gastrointestinal issue. Both parents were prepared by the doctors to say goodbye.

The two tough babies defied all the odds by making it despite having been given virtually no chance of survival after their birth, which took place after only 22 weeks and 5 days.

They’re doing absolutely amazing. They’re doing all the things that we were told they wouldn’t do—they’re crying, they’re surviving […] It’s really emotional” – their father, Steve, told the media. “140 days ago we didn’t think we’d be here” – he added.

Harley and Harry were conceived by IVF after their mum tried to get pregnant naturally for three years.
