This Sunday 29th September there will be marked the 75th Anniversary of the Air Bridge supply flights to the Warsaw Uprising in the Newark Polish Military Cemetery. These missions 500 feet above the burning city were flown by RAF, PAF and SAAF crews from Brindisi Italy (because Stalin refused airspace) with terrible loss of crew life. The event was masterminded by former RAF aircrew /Air Bridge veteran 95-year-old Jim Auton who hopes to be there.

All are welcome and I hope to see you there.
The event at Newark has been taking place annually since 1989 If weather permits there is usually a flypast by aircraft of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight – either a Spitfire, Hurricane, Lancaster or C-47 Dakota Guests normally include former members of the Home Army, Polish scouts, air cadets, members of the Polish and British communities and serving airmen who represent the countries which took part in the missions to Warsaw. Attendees are invited after the service to attend an event at Newark Town Hall.
