According to the information published by the US White House, the American administration of President Donald J. Trump decided to fully suspend military aid for Ukraine, which has been fighting a full-scale Russian aggression since 24 February 2022.
A White House official confirmed in a statement that President Donald Trump has halted all military aid to Ukraine “to ensure that it contributes to the resolution” of the conflict.
“The president has made it clear that his focus is on peace. We need our partners to be committed to that goal as well. We are pausing and reviewing our assistance to make sure it contributes to a solution,” the White House representative stated.
According to Fox News TV, which reported the information before official confirmation, the withholding applies to all forms of aid, including weapons already on their way to Ukraine and those stored in Poland.
“We will carry out the mission of support for Ukraine all the time,” declared Deputy Prime Minister, head of the Ministry of Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. He also expressed hope that the suspension of military aid by the United States to Ukraine was only temporary.
The US President’s decision will also apply to military aid on its way to Ukraine and storage facilities in Poland.
The US Vice President, J.D. Vance said he is ready to talk to Zelenskyy whenever the Ukrainian president comes back and is ready to talk about making peace with Russia.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that information from US representatives stationed in the Polish supply airport hub for Ukraine in Rzeszów-Jasionka confirmed the US administration’s decision.
“The situation is serious, I don’t need to convince anyone that it requires special concentration from the government,” Prime Minister Donald Tusk said at the start of Tuesday’s cabinet meeting.
“Trump has just withheld military aid to Ukraine, which was previously approved by the US Congress; this is tragic,” commented the former US ambassador to Russia, Michael McFaul.
Meanwhile, one of the closest associates of the US President, Elon Musk, the head of DOGE, called for Volodymyr Zelenskyy to leave Ukraine.
“Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky should be offered some form of amnesty in a neutral country in exchange for a peaceful transition towards democracy in Ukraine,” Elon Musk, billionaire and close associate of US President Donald Trump, wrote on X.
