Data recently published by the Central Register and Information on Economic Activity reveal that around 295,000 Poles started their own individual (or sole proprietorships) business in 2021. These figures represent an increase of almost 12% compared with 2020.
According to Łukasz Goszczyński, attorney-at-law and restructuring advisor, the increase in the number of self-employed people indicates the positive effects of “milder restrictions imposed in connection with the pandemic.”
Likewise, Aldona Międlar-Adamska from the Ars Aequi Law Firm is not surprised either by such a level of growth.
In her opinion, “[it] proves that both entrepreneurs and employees have simulated the tax and contribution burdens in various forms of cooperation and assessed that it would be the most beneficial for them to start their own business.„
Data from the Central Register and Information on Economic Activity show that the monthly average number of such businesses created amounts to 24,578 (compared to 21,998 one year before).
Given the recent update of the Polish legislation with regard to taxation, it will be interesting to have an eye on the evolution of this trend for the year 2022.
