British man found a way to fill up his gas tank for less than £7

Alex Orchin comes from Wivelsfield in East Sussex. He regularly entertains passers-by with his tiny blue Peel P50 three-wheeler. The car is only 134cm long, 98cm wide, and 100cm high and has a five-litre gas tank. Its top speed is merely 23mph (37 km/h).

Alex Orchin is a motoring collector who enjoys driving around in an original tiny car. “I have always had an interest in old, vintage, and unusual cars since I was a kid. No one in my family was into it. It was a bit of a random obsession I used to be a chauffeur for vintage cars and have had a 1914 Model T and a 1968 Morris Minor too,” he said about his passion.

Alex said, “I’ve owned a lot of cars and none of them gets as much attention as this one. […] The under-ten-year-olds especially go mad for it,” he added.

Last year, the 31-year-old drove all the way from John O’Groats to Lands End in just three weeks. The £11,000 he raised were then given to Children in Need.

The P50 was first made on the Isle of Man in the 1960s. In 2010, the model was named the smallest production car ever built in the Guinness World Records book.

The vehicle Alex is driving was built in 2017 but is based on the original design from the first production models, dating back to the 1960s.
