Orlen said that the suspension of deliveries would, therefore not affect the supply of Polish customers with the company’s products, including gasoline and diesel oil.

From the beginning of February 2023, after the contract’s expiration with Rosneft, Russian oil supplies covered only about 10% of Orlen’s demand. “Until 2015, almost all crude oil in the ORLEN Group came from Russia. Thanks to consistent diversification, in February, it was only about 10%, only from the long-term contract. Since the beginning of the war, we have not imported fuels and crude oil from Russia by sea” – PKN Orlen informed.

Currently, PKN Orlen relies on crude oil supplies from the North Sea, Western Africa, the Mediterranean, the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Mexico. The company highlighted that Saudi Aramco is an important partner of the concern, with whom PKN Orlen concluded a strategic contract for crude oil supplies in 2022.

The company has a contract for oil supplies with the Russian company Tatneft, valid until the end of 2024. PKN Orlen declared that it would stop imports if the European Union imposed appropriate sanctions, otherwise breaking the current contract would result in the risk of having to pay compensation.
