The company wants to increase oil and gas extraction. In 2023, Orlen will invest PLN 6.4 billion in this segment: mainly in Norway, but also in Poland.
In addition, the strategy provides for over 130,000 tonnes per year of renewable hydrogen production, approx. 300 MW of installed capacity in SMR nuclear reactors, development of CO2 capture infrastructure, up to approx. 3 million tonnes per year.
The strategy also sets targets for decarbonisation and carbon neutrality. By 2030, it is assumed that CO2 emissions in the refinery, petrochemical and mining segments will decrease by 25% compared to the base year of 2019, the emission intensity in the energy segment will be reduced by 40%, and after 2030 the production of energy from coal will end by 2035.
PLN 120 billion will be allocated to green investments that will make us independent of fossil fuels. These include offshore and onshore wind farms, photovoltaics, biogas and biomethane, new-generation biofuels and renewable hydrogen.
Do 2030 roku nasze obecne aktywa produkcyjne będą czystsze i bardziej efektywne. Rozbudujemy też nowe obszary biznesowe oparte o zasoby odnawialne. Zainwestujemy łącznie około 320 mld PLN, z czego około 120 mld PLN w zielone inwestycje, uniezależniające nas od paliw kopalnych. pic.twitter.com/earWasxubi

The company will also decrease gas prices. “I want to announce the next discount for all customers on the price list. This is 130 thousand users. This is an over 50% reduction in gas prices” – said Obajtek.
