A survey conducted by a global online research company, YouGov, shows that in general, the British would prefer to live in a communist political system rather than a fascist one. The survey question left only two options to choose from.
In 1939 The British public also chose communism 74%, with only 26% that supported fascism, if they had to choose between the two systems.
The 80% proportion was recorded in a general part of the survey, including all electorates in the 2024 general elections, with the exclusion of “no opinion” answers. The study was also specified into different electorates of British political parties.
“One of the main political trends in recent years has been the ideological age divide, with the youngest Britons the most likely to vote for left wing parties and the oldest Britons most likely to vote for right wing parties,” the survey summary says.
The specific survey showed that:
93% of Labour voters would support communism, with only 7% opting for fascism
59% of Conservative voters for communism, and 41% for fascism
45% of the Reform voters would support communism and 55% fascism
90% of Liberal Democrats voters would support communism, with just 10% for fascism
96% Greens for communism, with 4% or less for fascism
