Russia fact-checked on X. Even Germany remembers #HitlerStalin Pact

The Russian MFA posted a propaganda version of WWII history, whitewashing its aggression on Eastern Poland in September 1939. The obvious lie was countered with an X community note… but also by the German Foreign Office that reminded the Russians about specifics of the Ribbentrop-Molotov pact that divided Poland between the two totalitarian powers.

The video added by the Russian MFA called the “claims of Soviet aggression” as imagined by Western academia and is contrary to the facts and logic.

The community note attached to the X post says: “The USSR invaded Poland as part of the Molotov Ribbentrop pact. They killed 7k Poles and took 320k Poles as POWs during the invasion, and then later executed 22k during the Katyń Massacre”.

The most interesting interaction with the Russian propaganda post was the answer given by the German MFA showing a map of partitioned Poland with signatures of Soviet and German politicians who worked to destroy Poland at that time.

It seems that Russian propaganda was fact-checked rapidly and with additional help from its previous allies that do consider their responsibility for the years of genocide of Polish people and the collapse of Polish statehood.
