Robert Lewandowski scored his 100th goal for Barcelona

On Sunday night, FC Barcelona was playing away against Athletic Bilbao. All eyes were on Robert Lewandowski. The prolific Pole started the game with the firm intention of scoring his 100th goal with the Barcelona shirt. And he did so in style.

After less than 15 minutes of play, he skilfully controlled a deep ball in the goal and gave his team the lead. Moments later, he found the back of the net again following a corner, his goal number 101 for Barcelona.

Due to an injury in mid-April, Lewandowski got stuck at 99 goals for long weeks. But on Sunday, he scored a brace just three minutes apart and offered a comfortable victory to his Catalonian side (0-3), who secured the title of champions of Spain earlier this month.

At nearly 37, the Blaugrana’s number 9 completed yet another historical achievement. Earlier in his career, Lewandowski already scored more than 100 goals for Borussia Dortmund (103), Bayern Munich (344) and in the Champions League (105).

With 695 in total, “Lewy” is now approaching 700 career goals and is therefore about to join the only six football legends who achieved this incredible feat so far: Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Pele, Romario, Ferenc Puskas and Josef Bican.
