Eurostat: Poland is the EU’s fastest-growing economy in 2024 2nd quarter

Poland’s GDP in the second quarter of 2024 grew the most of all EU countries. Although it is good news for Poland, the slow development of other EU countries may affect Polish exports.

Poland remains the EU leader with 4% GDP growth ahead of Cyprus (3,7%) and Spain (2,9%).

The GDP growth above 1% was achieved only by 5 other EU countries. It was Portugal, with a result of 1.5%, closely followed by Lithuania (1.4%) and, with a slightly lower result, Hungary (1.3%). France and Belgium recorded only 1.1% growth relative to Q2 2023.

The biggest decline in GDP was noted in Latvia, where GDP contracted by as much as 1.1%. Sweden recorded a particularly weak result, as its economy declined by 0.8%.

At the same time, the entire EU’s GDP grew by 0.3 per cent quarter-on-quarter and 0.8 per cent year-on-year.

Experts say Poland remains the EU leader for the 5th year.
