Exit polls: Trzaskowski and Nawrocki will fight for presidency in final round of the elections

Rafał Trzaskowski and Karol Nawrocki are set to face each other in the second round of Poland’s presidential election, according to an exit poll conducted by Ipsos.

Trzaskowski, the present Mayor of Warsaw and a prominent figure in the Civic Platform party, secured 30.8% of the vote. Close behind was Karol Nawrocki, president of the Institute of National Remembrance and the candidate backed by the conservative Law and Justice (PiS) party, with 29.1% support.

Third place went to right-wing libertarian Sławomir Mentzen, who garnered an estimated 15.4% of the vote. This marked a strong showing for the Konfederacja party.

Other candidates lagged in single digits: Grzegorz Braun received 6.2%, Adrian Zandberg 5.2%, Szymon Hołownia 4.8%, Magdalena Biejat 4.1%, Joanna Senyszyn and Krzysztof Stanowski each obtained 1.3%, Marek Jakubiak 0.8%, Artur Bartoszewicz 0.5%, Maciej Maciak 0.4%, and Marek Woch 0.1%.

Voter turnout was estimated at 66.8%, suggesting a highly engaged electorate in what is widely seen as a pivotal election for Poland’s political future.

The final results will be officially confirmed in the coming days, but the exit poll points to a closely contested second round between two sharply contrasting visions for Poland’s future.
