In a new, historic Forbes ranking of the 100 richest Poles, all of those listed reached a wealth of more than PLN 1 bn (at least £ 198,880,000). It is the first such situation in Polish history, and now the number of billionaires in Poland has reached 107 people. The combined wealth of the one hundred richest stands at PLN 315 billion, which shows an 11 percent increase in year-to-year perspective.
According to Forbes, the reason for this extraordinary growth is the development of Polish businesses, which in many cases exceed the country’s economy.
Michał Sołowow remains at the top of the list with assets of PLN 28.1 billion. His position was strengthened by diversifying his business and investing in public nuclear power programmes.
Second place is held by Jerzy Starak (PLN 24.8 billion), whose fortune increased by PLN 5.4 billion during the year thanks to the expansion of Polpharma Biologics.
The third position belongs to Tomasz Biernacki (PLN 22.3 billion), owner of Dino, who, however, records the first ever decline in the value of his fortune.
Dariusz Miłek created the greatest growth to his business that recently risen 107 percent to PLN 6.2 billion. He successfully developed the HalfPrice chain, which has become a European rival to TK Maxx stores.
