Liz Truss observes the possibility of using nuclear weapons if national security is threatened

In a recent interview for Times Radio, Liz Truss said she would be ready to use the UK’s nuclear weapons.

In the context of the ongoing war opposing Ukraine and Russia, Times Radio’s John Pienaar asked the Foreign Minister if she would give the order “to unleash nuclear weapons,” which “would mean global annihilation.”

How does that thought make you feel?” – Pienaar asked. “I think it’s an important duty of the prime minister, and I’m ready to do it,” – Truss replied.

Emphasising the perspective that using the country’s nuclear weapons would make him “physically sick”, the show’s host got the reply for Ms Truss that she would “be ready to do that”.

Since Russia launched its invasion in February, Foreign Secretary Liz Truss has been among the most vocal supporters of Kyiv. She repeatedly denounced Vladimir Putin’s brutality and the need for Western powers to rally against Moscow.

She is widely expected to beat former chancellor Rishi Sunak and be announced as the UK’s new PM on September 5.
