Poles gather at anti-immigration rallies across the country

In 80 cities across Poland citizens and activists held an anti-immigration rallies, organised after a call from the leaders of Konfederacja party. Citizens and football fan groups gathered to express discontent with government policies regarding border control in West and East, and to protest against accepting migrants from the Middle East.

The anti-immigration rallies were held under the slogan “Stop Immigration!”, demanding the closure of borders with Lithuania, Ukraine, Belarus, and Slovakia. The demonstrations, some of which featured strong government criticism, drew counterprotests from left-wing groups, who chanted “Warning: Racism” and “Fascists on the streets.” In many locations, police had to intervene to prevent clashes between the opposing groups.

Speaking in Białystok, Confederation MP Krzysztof Bosak called for a complete policy overhaul: mass deportations, a fortified Border Guard, and even the right for soldiers to use firearms against those crossing the border illegally.

Without shutting Poland off from illegal immigration and rejecting political correctness, our safety will continue to deteriorate,” he claimed, accusing migrants of growing aggression and blaming the current government for inaction. In Toruń, party leader Sławomir Mentzen went further, denouncing both legal and illegal immigration, saying, “Poland is for Poles. We are a civilised nation and we want peace.”

In Rzeszów, around 200 protesters gathered in front of the regional governor’s office, some carrying banners like “We don’t want London, Berlin or Paris in Rzeszów!” One chant, led by the event organiser, echoed through the crowd: “You have our full support—if you must, then shoot!” A similar narrative was echoed in other cities including Przemyśl, Mielec, and Lublin, where rallies proceeded without major incident.

In Bielsko-Biała, protesters collected signatures demanding the closure of the local Foreigners’ Integration Centre. Local political tensions flared when representatives from rival parties publicly exchanged accusations over immigration policy, with the crowd chanting “Only truth!” and “Only unity!”

The largest turnout was in Warsaw, where several thousand people rallied. Confederation MP Przemysław Wipler claimed that Poland’s growing wealth made it a target for smugglers and undocumented migrants, stating that “there are no holidays for people-traffickers.”

Meanwhile, in Kraków’s Main Square, the protest began with a minute of silence in memory of a local woman allegedly murdered by a foreign national, which demonstrators used as a rallying cry against immigration.

Chants like “Here is Kraków, not Brussels—no to immigration” and “Secure borders, safe borders” were repeated, with some football fans joining in with chants targeting Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s government.
