Polish military mission in Lebanon to operate in ‘high alert’

The Polish military mission to Lebanon, which consists of some 250 soldiers, was put on high alert due to the Israeli army operation and bombings on Hezbollah targets across the country.

This is a very dangerous mission, involving multiple countries,” the Polish Defence Minister, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said.

Every decision must be made in communication with the allies, however „safety, the soldiers, and the mission always come first,” the Polish deputy Prime Minister added.

Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz also said Poland could decide to evacuate its military mission from Lebanon if the situation escalates in the next few days.

In recent days Israel intensified its air strikes against Hezbollah across Lebanon. The Israeli air strikes and other operations killed at least 356 people and wounded 1246, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health.

Days before a series of exploding electronic device attacks against Hezbollah members killed some 39 people and wounded 3,000.

The IDF has not commented on the operation, but according to Western sources Israel was responsible for the attack. The Hezbollah leadership promised revenge on Israel.
