It is with deep concern to have been notified about the arrests of Poles in Belarus. We have heard about numerous cases of arrests, trials, brutal interrogations, intrusions of schools, harassment of students and their parents. Poles are targeted and threatened with long-term jail sentences. Many of the imprisoned citizens were simply people who curated and protected Polish culture in Belarus and fostered the good relations between the Polish and Belarussian nations.
We call the Belarussian government to free the Polish people who were unjustly arrested because of their involvement in the life on the Polish community in Belarus. It is in the interests of enemies of Belarus and Poland to attack the Polish minority in Belarus. Our people should not be divided, and the current actions of the Belarussian government should be immediately halted.
We are sending a strong message of solidarity as part of the #FreePolesInBelarus #WolniPolacyNaBialorusi campaign and ask all people of good will to join us in this protest.
