The first secret ballot of Conservative Members of Parliament was held this morning.
The Parliamentary Party cast their votes for the next Leader of the Conservative Party.
The results are as follows – in alphabetical order by surname:
According to the rules agreed by the 1922 Committee and the Conservative Party Board, candidates who receive 16 votes or fewer are eliminated.
Therefore 3 candidates are eliminated: Mark Harper, Andrea Leadsom and Esther McVey.
The remaining 7 candidates move forward to the second ballot of MPs. This will be held on Tuesday the 18th of June.
