British pub landlord drives 1000 miles (1600 km) to help Ukrainian refugees

In times of war, some people get to be known from their darkest side, while others show solidarity and generosity in the noblest ways. Former Royal Marine Tom Littledyke belongs to the second category. The latter was willing to help the Ukrainian refugees who are being forced to leave their homeland, which is being struck by a brutal invasion.

As everyone tries to be useful in a specific way, the young Brit had the original idea to drive all the way from southern England to Western Ukraine in order to facilitate the transit of the local population to the West.

Tom Littledyke drove all the way to southeastern Poland He drove his 16-seater minibus all the way from southern England to southeastern Poland, where he expected to stop.

„The plan wasn’t to come into Ukraine, but at midnight I met some reporters on the border in Poland, and they gave me some useful tips […] They told me about a train station where people needed to be ferried to and from the border. So I made the decision to pop over,” he told the BBC.

In his minibus, he made sure to pack several sleeping bags, teddy bears and blankets among other things in order to provide such much-needed help to the local refugees.
