A recent ranking by Travelmag put the Polish city of Krakow in its top 20 of the best cities in Europe when it comes to street food.
„Dotted with medieval castle walls, lush parks, and cobbled streets, Kraków is one of Central Europe’s most beautiful cities,” we read on the travelmag.com website.
The former capital of Poland is described as “teeming with holes in the wall and other no-frills outlets selling grab-and-go-style food to enjoy as you wander.„
Travelmag’s website further informs its readers that several spots in the city include its „hipster district of Kazimierz, home to a buzzing 17th-century marketplace where food trucks sell Kraków’s most famous street food.”
Among the latter, the most famous remain without doubt bagel-shaped bread loaves called obwarzanki, zapiekanki as well as other popular local specialities.
„For the true Kraków street food experience, check out the legendary roadside Blue Nysa van where flame-licked kiełbasa sausages are dished out with crusty bread and a dollop of mustard,” travelmag.com explains.
Travelmag’s list of top 20 street food destinations in Europe includes exclusively cities with a population of under 1 million inhabitants.
The other cities figuring on the list are Antwerp, Bari, Basel, Bodrum, Bristol, Dublin, Dusseldorf, Gothenburg, The Hague, Helsinki, Heraklion, Ljubliana, Lyon, Manchester, Palermo, Plovdiv, Porto, Reykjavik and Valletta.
