Although appreciating a given place is subjective, Warsaw can be put on the list of good places to live in. Here is a list of 7 good reasons why. These 7 points reflect exclusively the point of view of the author and bypass the existing negative sides of the city.
- Safety
Warsaw, like Poland in the broader sense, is a safe place to live. There are neither terrorist attacks nor “no-go zones” here. European Best Destinations ranks the Polish capital among the 20 safest cities in Europe. Generally, women walk through the streets or use public transportation at night without worrying about being assaulted.
- Cleanness
In comparison to many Western European capitals, Warsaw appears spotless. It is not rare to see communal workers cleaning the streets and taking away rubbish. Public toilets are also usually in a decent state and are free in metro stations from 6 am to 10 pm. Hygiene is essential to Poles and can be felt in their capital.
- Nature
According to Poland Travel, almost one-fourth of the Warsaw area is composed of fields, parks, green squares, and lush gardens, making Warsaw a European metropolis that truly offers its visitors a breath of fresh air. A good illustration of this is the massive Kampinoski National Park, which is protected as a UNESCO World Biosphere Reservation.
- Transport and communication
Warsaw offers an extensive choice when it comes to public transportation. The two metro lines allow you to reach key points of the city. It is also the case for trams and buses. All for an affordable price. Besides, Uber and electric scooters can be found all over the city, just like on bicycle roads. For those who prefer the car, finding a parking spot is relatively easy in the city centre, and again for a reasonable price.
- Dynamism
Warsaw is an unbelievably dynamic city, developing at a breathtaking rate. Numerous prominent companies made it its strategic hub. The unemployment rate is almost. Foreign and local investors invest intensely in the Polish capital, and it can be seen. Poland’s capital has become one of Europe’s most important cities for business in the course of just a few decades.
- History
In 1944, around 90% of the city was completely destroyed following massive German bombings. It has to be rebuilt virtually from zero. Each of its districts is filled with fascinating stories about freedom fighters and bloody massacres which took place not so long ago, after all. Palaces, museums, monuments, statues,… When it comes to history, Warsaw is an open-air museum in itself.
- Variety
Another great point of Warsaw is the diversity of attractions it proposes. It is everything required to please culture lovers (operas, theatres, cinemas,…) as well as party people (clubs, various types of bars,…). There is the old town with its tourist spots, and not far from it the Manhattan-like district with skyscrapers. There are vegan restaurants, sugar-free bakeries, open-air exhibitions, beautiful libraries, football stadiums, and much more!
It is just the beginning
Warsaw is truly a one-of-a-kind city. From the ashes of WWII, it was rebuilt under a Communist system, which prevented it from developing its true potential. For the last three decades, and especially the last ten years, it has been completely transformed, mainly for the better. And there are good chances to believe that Warsaw will remain the place to be in the future.
