Hubert Hurkacz continues his great run at Wimbledon!

On Friday afternoon, Hubert Hurkacz validated his ticket to the fourth round of Wimbledon. The Pole managed to eliminate the Italian Lorenzo Musetti in straight sets (7-6, 6-4, 6-4). He now looks forward to defying a legend of the game, Novak Djokovic.

Lorenzo Musetti started the match well, putting his opponent under pressure. Both players neutralised each other by winning their respective service games. The first set was to be decided by a tie-break. In the latter, it’s the Polish champion who took the lead with a comfortable 7-3 win, sealing a tight first set after nearly an hour.

Hubi then broke early in the second set and confirmed that he was the one in control, producing a high level of efficient tennis. He stayed ahead and made it two sets to love (6-4). Musetti gave it all in the third set, but that proved insufficient against the Silesian giant, who confidently completed this important win (6-4).

Talking about giants, Hurkacz’s next opponent will be the winner of the match opposing the Swiss veteran Stan Wawrinka and the Serbian terminator Novak Djokovic. The latter is naturally super favourite in that encounter which – at the moment of writing – did not start yet.

Back in 2021, Hubi achieved a sensational run at Wimbledon by reaching the semis. On his way to the last four, the Pole defeated the master Roger Federer with an unforgettable “bagel” (6-0, editor’s note) in the final set. Polish fans definitely hope that their champion will be animated by a similar kind of magic to start his second week at the All England Lawn.
