The British premiere of Chopin’s waltz discovered after 200 years will take place at POSK

Following the performance of Rescuing Chopin—A True Story in 2 Acts, the audience will hear a waltz by Fryderyk Chopin, discovered after more than 200 years, for the first time.

The recently discovered piece by Fryderyk Chopin will be performed by renowned pianist Artur Haftman on POSK’s newly acquired Steinway grand piano. It is worth noting that this is the only instrument of this class in the UK owned by a Polish centre.

The performance will take place on Saturday, November 2, at 6:00 p.m. at the Polish Social and Cultural Association (POSK).

The play describes the Polish Heritage Society’s efforts in the search for the missing Fryderyk Chopin statue from London’s Southbank, which was recovered after 37 years of effort.

The Fryderyk Chopin monument at Southbank was dismantled during construction work in the mid-1980s and remained hidden until pressure from the Polish Heritage Society and the Chopin Society led the Southbank Centre to locate it.  The statue was re-unveiled on 18 May 2011 in a ceremony graced by the Duke of Gloucester.

British Poles are a media patron of the event.
