According to media reports King Charles III is working on food poverty during the day of his 76th birthday. On this day we want to express our wishes to the monarch and remind the Polish themes of his life and reign.
“The King is treating his birthday as a working day and travelled to Deptford on the first anniversary of the Coronation Food Project which aims to make better use of food that would otherwise be thrown away,” the BBC reports.
As for the Polish themes, back in 1993, Charles said in a speech that some Polish blood runs in his veins. He visited Poland four times: 1993, 2002, 2008 and 2010.
King Charles referred to the interesting story of Maurycy Hauke and his family’s relation to the British Royal family.
During his 2002 trip, Charles visited the Tatra mountains and even tried Polish vodka with the local inhabitants. The owner of the restaurant in which the King tried the famous likworówka later said: “He was not afraid, he drank it and praised it!”.
As the media informed he was astonished with the view on Morskie Oko near Zakopane.
His last visit in 2010 was marked with a ceremonial dinner with the Polish presidential couple Lech and Maria Kaczyński. On that occasion, the future King was able to raise a toast in Polish. During the dinner, Charles also said that the Poles are a very important part of modern British society.
On that visit, King Charles also visited Białowieża with its famous virgin forest. The King was also very curious to meet the local Muslim community of the Polish Tatars and learned about their interesting history and deep Polish patriotism.
The Polish president Andrzej Duda was present at King Charles’s coronation and also had the pleasure of talking to the British monarch.
