The Metropolitan Bus Station in Lublin wins World Architecture Festival Award

The Polish bus station in Lublin was chosen from more than a thousand architectural projects in the competition for the best building in the world and finally won in the „Transport” category.

The World Architecture Festival is an annual festival and awards ceremony, and an event dedicated to the architecture and development industry. This year, the competition was held in Singapore.

In recent years the city of Lublin, called the capital of Eastern Poland has been visited by a growing number of tourists from abroad. The city offers a variety of historic sites connected to the life of many cultures including the Poles, Jews, Armenians and many others.

Lublin was also a crucial site of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth state and the place where the agreement that laid the foundations for the future state was signed.

Nowadays the popularity of the city has grown thanks to the title of European Capital of Culture 2029 and the success of Jesse Eisenberg’s  ‘Real Pain’ movie, which is partly set in Lublin.

The bus station in Lublin has already been awarded the European Property Award, Green Building Award and Property Design Award.

Many experts indicate similarities in the architecture of the Lublin station and Singapore Changi Airport.

The Lublin Metropolitan Bus Station was completed in January 2024 and is part of the so-called Integrated Transport Centre project.

The building has a floor area of approximately 18,000 sq m and an underground car park that can accommodate up to 122 buses.
