Study: Poland third-best country in the EU to live for young adults

A recent study by Alorix, a company developing mobile applications to support travel and cultural exchange, assessed the economic prospects and quality of life for young adults. Poland was ranked 3rd best country to live in the European Union.

The most important factors in the study were: rent affordability in the country’s capital city, crime rates, happiness and the number of McDonald’s Big Mac sandwiches that can be purchased with a monthly average salary.

Poland stands at 437 Big Mac sandwiches that can be purchased for an average salary, which gave it the high, 5th place in the ranking.

Poland was also very attractive with a very low youth unemployment rate, standing at 2.94 percent. This marker was only lower in the Czech Republic with 2,77%.

The lowest marker was Poland, with the most room for progress in rent affordability.

According to the study, a 1-room apartment for a young adult could consume as much as 45 percent of its monthly revenues. The situation is even worse in countries such as Ireland and Portugal, with numbers reaching more than 70 percent.

As the reason for such high accommodation costs in European cities, the authors of the research named growing populations in the biggest cities.
