Iga Świątek climbed her way back to the podium of the WTA ranking

Following her unexpected title at Wimbledon, Iga Świątek climbed her way back to the podium of the WTA ranking. The Pole, who had fallen to the 8th place, surprised everyone with her impressive level of tennis and won the prestigious British tournament by beating the American Amanda Anisimova in the final without losing a single game (6-0; 6-0).

Świątek now trails Coco Gauff (No. 2, 7,669 points) by 856 points and Aryna Sabalenka (No. 1, 12,420 points). She also climbed to No. 2 in the WTA Race rankings, which track 2025 season performance, with 5,983 points, overtaking Gauff.

But Iga’s recent triumph is of major importance not only when it comes to the WTA ranking. The Varsovian stands out as the most successful WTA player of the 2020s so far. She has won six Grand Slam titles, including four French Opens (2020, 2022, 2023, 2024), one US Open (2022), and one Wimbledon (2025), more than any other player this decade.

Świątek has secured 22 WTA titles with an impressive 84.6% win rate in finals, including 10 WTA 1000 titles and a WTA Finals crown. She held the world No. 1 ranking for 125 weeks and achieved a 37-match win streak in 2022. With 65 Grand Slam match wins since 2020, she leads the field, and her consistency across surfaces cements her dominance.

The Polish champion is the active player with the most slams and it is hard to believe that she will stop at six. She already has won more slams than Maria Sharapova or Martina Hingis, both with five. She is only one slam shy of legends Venus Williams and Justine Henin.

When it comes to the weeks spent as world number 1, Iga did not say her last word. At 24, the Pole has already spent 125 weeks on top of the charts, which is the 7th highest total in history! Catching Monica Seles and her 178 weeks must be somewhere in the back of her mind. But not so fast. For now, let’s let “1GA” enjoy the euphoria of her first Wimbledon win.

The next upcoming big tournament is the US Open (25 August) where Świątek will be trying to win a second crown and get closer to the number 1 spot she aims to conquer again.
