The tennis world number 1 is unstoppable in 2022!. Last Sunday, Iga Swiątek won her 23rd consecutive match on the tour and thereby her fourth tournament in a row at the the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart.
The final was expected to be tight against the world number 4 Aryna Sabalenka. However, the young Varsovian proved yet again that there is simply merely no competition with her in this season so far.
She prevailed in two straight sets, 6-2 and 6-2, in less than an hour and a half and won the 7th trophy of her young career.
Iga Swiątek’s statistics are breathtaking. Her ongoing winning streak (24) began with a title run at WTA 1000 Doha, before showing what she is capable of in Indian Wells and Miami.

If the young Pole continues at such a pace, we will be talking records. Iga is already in the top 10 of all time in this matter, which she considers „pretty surreal”. “A few years ago I wouldn’t even think about being in this kind of group,” – she told the media.
„For sure right now I need to work harder to keep this streak, but I’m just going to take it to match by match, and I’m super proud of myself and really satisfied. These [record holders of the biggest winning streak – editor’s note] are the kind of players who were role models when I was growing up,” – she added.

When it comes to the WTA ranking, Iga Świątek’s domination is now more visible than ever. Indeed, the Pole has over 2000 more points than her closest follower Paula Badosa. In other words, the throne of number 1 seems secured for Iga Świątek at least until this summer.
