Poland will face Wales for its most important match in 2024 (so far)

Poland’s national team was facing Estonia in the first playoff match for the Euro 2024 in Warsaw’s national stadium on Thursday night. 

The White and Reds were largely favourite and made no mistake. They gave a football lesson to their humble opponent (5-1) and qualified for the decisive phase of the qualifiers. In the meantime, Poland’s next opponent, Wales, outplayed Finland 4-1.

The Poles needed only 22 minutes to open the mark via Przemysław Frankowski, just a few minutes before the Estonians being reduced to 10 following à red card for Maksim Pakotsi. Both teams headed to the dressing room as the score remained unchanged. 

Shortly after coming back on the pitch, Poland comforted its lead thank tio a header of Piotr Zieliński, who by doing so scored his 11th career goal with the national team. Jakub Piotrowski scored the third goal for Poland before Estonia’s Karol Mets unfortunate own goal. The final nail in the Estonian team’s coffin was signed by Sebastian Szymański. Two minutes later, that is at the 78th minute of the game, Martin Vetkal scored a consolation goal for his team, which settled the score at 5-1.

Now, the White Eagles are getting ready for what can be described as the match of the year, at least for now. On Tuesday night in Cardiff, Robert Lewandowski and his teammates will be doing what they can to validate their ticket for the Euro 2024. Michał Probierz’s players will not necessarily be the favourites against the local team.The kick-off of the match is scheduled on Tuesday at 7.45 PM (UK time).
