This December, the Polish countertenor Jakub Józef Orliński makes his debut at the Metropolitan Opera of New York. The prestigious opera is being visited by Eurydice, the heroine of the opera composed by Matthew Aucoin.
“It’s a great moment in my career. Everyone in the opera world dreams of treading the boards of the Metropolitan Opera,” the artist said.
Despite his young age, Jakub Józef Orliński has risen to the top thanks to numerous impressive performances at some of the greatest halls worldwide and winning awards in several vocal contests.
Orliński’s career has accelerated in recent years. In September 2020, he was named the Best Singer of the Year by the readers of the German Opernwelt magazine.
More recently, the talented Pole received one of the most prestigious awards in the world of opera, namely the International Opera Awards 2020 in recognition for his „Facce d’Amore” solo album.
He also appeared on the cover of the October 2021 issue of the renowned Gramophone magazine devoted to the music industry.
It is also worth emphasising that Orliński’s artistic activity goes beyond singing. He also proved to be a successful breakdance dancer. He was ranked fourth in the Red Bull BC One Poland Cypher competition, second in the Stylish Strike – Top Rock competition and also second in the Style Control competition.
Recently we performed at the Wigmore Hall in London with his equally high-flying pianist compatriot in a programme that includes songs by the Polish Romantic composers Stanisław Moniuszko (1819-72) and Mieczysław Karłowic (1876-1909), in addition to a wealth of music from the Baroque period.
Furthermore, he appears occasionally in commercials and campaigns of famous brands and concerts as a dancer, acrobat and model.
