The Royal Garden of Light (Królewski Ogród Światła) is an open-air exhibition in which thousands of coloured LEDs are arranged in sophisticated shapes in the garden of the famous Wilanów palace in Southern Warsaw.
The exhibition contains among others a 75-meter long luminous tunnel in which classical music can be listened to. In the courtyard, there is an illuminated pergola guarded by eagles, behind which the King’s Winter Garden stretches.
Even though the Wilanów palace is not located so far from the city centre, it will probably take you up to half an hour to get there if you start from Nowy Świat or the central station. This element is important to keep in mind in organising your potential journey.
The good part here is that the location is relatively easily accessible by public transport as well as by car (possibility to even park for free near the entrance). The price of a regular adult entrance is 40 PLN (7 GBP) from Friday to Sunday, 20 PLN (3,5 GBP) from Monday to Thursday and is free for children under the age of seven.
The opening hours of this winter attraction are from 4pm to 9pm. Indeed, going to see a light show before it is dark would not make much sense. The garden can be visited every day of the week except the 1st of November and the 24th and 31st of December.
The open-air exhibition started on the 9th of October and can be admired until the 27th of February 2022. It’s the biggest advantage is that it suits every age. You can take your partner for a romantic walk as well as your children in order to show them an element of the spirit of Christmas.
Long story short, if you happen to visit Warsaw this winter and would, make sure to give the Royal Garden of Light a try.
