Three out of four Poles declare to be satisfied with their lives

In December 2022, CBOS asked Poles if and to what extent they were satisfied with their lives in general and with their individual dimensions, including work, marriage, children, friends, financial situation, place of residence, or prospects for the future.

The survey revealed that 75% of Poles declare to be satisfied with their lives, with 18 % saying to be “very satisfied” and 57% describing themselves as “rather satisfied”. In 2022, men were more satisfied with life than women.

The same study showed that one in five (20%) considered their satisfaction with life to be “average”, while 3% declared not satisfied with their situation.

Compared to the previous measurement, the level of general satisfaction decreased by one percentage point. In comparison, the number of people describing their level of life satisfaction as “average” increased by one point.

CBOS believes that the change is insignificant and within the margin of error, but „it is a continuation of the downward trend recorded in the last three years.” In comparison with 2020, the percentage of people satisfied with life is now three points lower, and by even eight points lower than when the survey was conducted in 2019.

This is a decrease from a high level because in 2019, the level of life satisfaction of Poles was the highest in the entire period under study, i.e. since 1994.” – CBOS noted.

The assessment of the material standard of living and income turned out to have the most significant impact on the level of satisfaction declared by the surveyed.
