Traditional London red buses get a royal purple makeover for Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations

On the occasion of the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, 8 of London’s classic red buses have been given a royal purple makeover.

Transport for London (TfL) announced that the revamp was funded by operators Abellio, Arriva, Go-Ahead, Metroline, RATP, and Stagecoach.

As TfL announced, in order to “help Londoners and visitors get into the party spirit,” passengers using the new Elizabeth line, Jubilee line, or stations with a royal link in their name will be able to enjoy celebratory messages over the Jubilee weekend between Thursday the 2nd of June and Sunday the 5th.

The Elizabeth Line is set to be opened next week, on the 24th of May, as a conclusion of the long-delayed Crossrail project. It is 8 days before the Jubilee weekend.

I hope that Londoners and visitors alike will enjoy looking out for our celebratory bus wraps and station activities while making the most of what the capital has to offer during the bank holiday weekend,” TfL’s chief operating officer Andy Lord told the media.
