“Sticky Fingers”: a piece of Poland in Stockport’s Market Hall

The “Sticky Fingers” cream cake café opened last March and has become a remarkably popular place in the blink of an eye.

Before launching their café in Stockford, Adrian worked as a lorry driver, while Klaudyna worked as a pastry chef. Both of them recently shared their thankfulness for the support they received from locals with the Manchester Evening News.

The people are really nice here, they are so open and welcome […] I’m so happy and really thankful for everyone who has visited us already so far, it means a lot,” Klaudyna confessed.

Everything here is traditional Polish style […] We have poppyseed and vanilla, jam and vanilla, they’re very authentic. Our cheesecakes are made with cottage cheese too, they have a more sour taste,” she proudly explained to MEN.

Lots of our customers are locals, British, maybe 95%, so sometimes they don’t know what to try, so we help them, our doughnuts are very popular, we have people coming from Manchester too. We also have a few Polish customers,” she added.

In turn, Adrian emphasises the importance of the emotional dimension of the initiative. “We are introducing exactly what we had as a kid, I was eating these at school every day, and now we can introduce that to local people,” he told MEN.

In Poland bakeries like this are on every single corner, so I think they are a little surprised with how popular we are,” Klaudyna added.

Sticky Fingers is open Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday between 9 am to 4.30 pm – at Market Place, Stockport, SK1 1UN.
